Insurance Coverage & Payment Policies
If your insurance is pre-approved to cover your visit, there will be no out-of-pocket expense at the time of service (rush fees may apply). We currently accept most Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, VA Community Care Network (VA CCN), Imagine Health, Velocity, PNOA, and Multiplan PPO plans. Once approval is confirmed, most clients are covered for a minimum of three lactation visits, with many plans offering additional coverage. If there are any limitations to the number of visits, we will notify you in advance.
How to Check Your Coverage
To confirm your benefits, please find your health insurance provider below and click the appropriate link:
For Aetna, United Healthcare (UHC), Multiplan, PNOA, Imagine Health, VA Community Care Network, and Velocity → Click here
For Cigna → Click here
For Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Anthem, Ambetter, and all other providers not listed above, self-pay rates are available. A superbill can be provided within seven (7) days after your visit is completed, allowing you to submit it directly to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. Please note, however, that we cannot guarantee reimbursement. While Texas Breastfeeding Center considers lactation care an essential component of maternal and infant health, not all insurance providers currently recognize it as such. We continue to advocate for expanded coverage of lactation services, but as a policyholder, your voice is vital—direct advocacy with your insurer helps ensure that breastfeeding support is prioritized as part of essential healthcare.
Approval Process
Insurance approval is typically verified within 48 hours. Once your benefits are confirmed, you will receive email documentation of your covered services, and our team will contact you to schedule your appointment.
If Insurance Cannot Be Pre-Approved
If your plan cannot be verified in advance, the consultation fee is due in full at the time of scheduling. All available services, policies, and fees can be reviewed and booked directly through the menu above.
Special Considerations
If you are a recipient of Medicaid, WIC, unemployment benefits, or have a plan that does not cover our services, you may qualify for reduced fees. Please email a copy of your documentation to support@texasbreastfeedingcenter.com. Upon verification, you will be provided with a unique promotional code to use when booking your appointment.
Virtual lactation consultations are available at a reduced rate for families who prefer the convenience of receiving expert care from home. Telehealth visits include the same level of professional, personalized support as in-person services.
In-Home Consultations & Service Areas
Until our office lease is finalized, in-home consultations are offered at no additional cost (travel fees may apply). To confirm availability in your region, please visit our service area pages:
Policy Updates
Texas Breastfeeding Center reserves the right to update or modify policies, discounts, and fees at any time. We encourage you to check this page periodically for the most current information. Our team looks forward to supporting you and your family with compassionate, evidence-based lactation care.
